SSC CGL Tier 1 cutoff, saal dar saal

Safar, ek nazar mein

I have been working as a CGST Inspector for the last 9 years. I cracked SSC CGL in my first attempt with 5–6 months of preparation and got a home zone posting. Today I am also preparing for the civil services, and I have appeared in the UPSC Mains.

I come from a very humble, simple family. I studied in Hindi-medium government schools on the UP Board till class 12, and I was a topper throughout. I cracked the UPSEE in my first attempt along with my 12th, without taking a drop year, and got HBTI in the B.Tech counselling. At that time, nobody in my family had even heard the name HBTI.

When I enrolled at HBTI, my English was very weak. I was shy and under-confident, because at home the focus had only ever been on studies and nothing else. Adjusting among students from convent and top English-medium schools was very difficult. But I never gave up. I struggled and learned everything. I learned to speak English, overcame my fear and gained confidence, all by myself.

When I got selected in SSC CGL, my life changed. I got huge respect and recognition in society. But as a fresher out of college, my first posting at the airport was again very challenging. I was an innocent, homely person, unaware of worldly things, and once again I struggled to make myself comfortable at my workplace.

I failed. I faced difficult times. But every time, I learnt and evolved into a better person. Today, when I look back at my journey, I feel overwhelmed and blessed at the same time for all the learning and maturity that every stage gave me.

If I could do it as a Hindi-medium student with weak English and low self-confidence, you can do it too.

I am sharing this to motivate you for anything and everything you wish for. Never be afraid of hardships. Welcome everything. Be flexible, be embracing. Never get disappointed by a lack of facilities; stay motivated for your aim. Keep working hard and stay consistent. You will achieve your aim and your dream life.
